Towards Full Aircraft Flight Simulation

Integrating control surface deflections with full aircraft, unsteady flow analysis can result in a much more realistic flight simulation. The unstructured, overset module in Cobalt can provide engineers with this capability

The use of CFD in full aircraft simulations designed to gather flight-test quality data is increasing.  Putting the aircraft though an intense flight maneuver can produce stability and control data.  The next logical step is integrating control surface deflections during the maneuver.  This will provide an accurate geometric replication of the aircraft throughout the maneuver.
